Pleasant Hill is one of the most desirable places to live in the East Bay area. With an “exceptionally livable” rating from Area Vibes, real estate in this market is highly sought-after, and median home value is significantly higher than that of the state’s.

Pleasant Hill is made up of around 24 neighborhoods, including Diablo Estate. And within Diablo Estate is the Contra Costa Country Club, one of the most popular recreational facilities in Northern California.

Just a few minutes to the west of Contra Costa Country Club is Golf Ridge, a small close-knit neighborhood of great-value properties, well-tended by their proud homeowners.


Living in Golf Ridge

Its walking-distance proximity to Contra Costa Country Club is arguably Golf Ridge’s best feature, giving residents an excellent opportunity to enjoy the club’s amenities anytime they want.

Created in 1925 by architect A. Vernon Macan, the club’s 18-hole golf course was recently redesigned by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., resulting in what is touted to be “one of the finest and purest tests of golf in Northern California”. The 145-acre course features a stunning landscape decked with mature oak, eucalyptus, redwood and cedar trees, with majestic Mt. Diablo in the background.

The club also offers an expansive practice facility, programs for golfers of all skill levels, and a spacious clubhouse that houses a pool, a pool house and other recreational facilities.

While proximity to Contra Costa Country Club is Golf Ridge’s prime attraction, it also offers other benefits that make it an ideal location for families.

Highly rated schools such as Valhalla Elementary School, Valley View Middle School and College Park High School are found near the area.

The neighborhood has a tranquil, bucolic vibe with tree-canopied streets, making it a great retreat from the bustle of nearby urban centers.

Golf Ridge has also recently formed its own Homeowners Association, demonstrating residents’ pride of ownership.

The majority of the population in Diablo Estate (which includes Golf Ridge) are family households. As of the 2010 Census, the median income in the neighborhood is 43% higher than the median for Pleasant Hill and 25% higher than California’s. Residents’ median age is around 44 years.


Real estate

Developed in 1972, Golf Ridge features contemporary-style townhouses and low-rise condos that offer great views of the Contra Costa Golf Course and Mt. Diablo. Lot sizes are typically around 900 to 1,300 square feet, while floor sizes usually start at 1,300 square feet.

The excellently designed properties have spacious rooms that include one to three bedrooms and bathrooms, spread on one to two stories. Most homes have been updated and commonly boast such features as a well-appointed kitchen with stone or granite counter tops, lots of storage space, and a deck. Properties also come with a one or two-car garage.
