NOBE – Oakland Neighborhood

NOBE is short for North Oakland/Berkeley/Emeryville and is a term that collectively refers to specific communities in the North Oakland, Southwest Berkeley and Eastern Emeryville junction.

These communities mostly fall in the 94608 zip code, as well as the southernmost 94609 and 94703 zip code areas. They include:

  • Bushrod Park
  • Longfellow
  • Santa Fe
  • Golden Gate
  • Eastern Emeryville
  • Southernmost/Southwest Berkeley

NOBE encompasses a vast and diverse area, with each community offering its own unique flavor and identity.

For the longest time, NOBE remained one of Oakland’s best-kept secrets, but this has been changing in the last few years. Many people, particularly young professionals and property investors, have recently been discovering the attractions and benefits of living in NOBE.

NOBE also has excellent school options. It is home to four community colleges under the Peralta Community College District, namely the Berkeley City College, Merritt College in Oakland, Laney College and College of Alameda. The National Blue Ribbon school Peralta Elementary is also found here.
